This past Sunday was one of the most awesome worship times I think we've ever had.  I call it a day of "awesomeness."  That's a bold statement because our church has had plenty of amazing Sundays in the past.  I've been preaching a series called "Family Survival Kit" where I'm talking about getting along and resolving problems within families.  I've had some incredible feedback about how God is speaking to people through this series.

This past Sunday, we had a great time of worship and then we baptized four people who made professions of faith at camps this summer,  one being my youngest daughter.  Early that morning as I praying and finishing up some preparation, God threw a thought at me, "Give an invitation from the baptistry."  I considered it, wavered back and forth, and as I stepped into the baptistry that morning, I thought, "Naaa, not going to do it."  Then, I finished the baptisms, and before I even knew what I was doing, I just offered an invitation to everyone - take a step of faith, make a profession, get baptized.  No music, no dim lighting, nothing.  I just threw the offer out there.  Silence for a moment, then one person stood up, then another, then another, then another.  No change of clothes, not enough extra towels, just an offer to follow Jesus now.

So, our baptism of four turned to eight.  The same thing happened in Acts Chapter 8.  A man believed, and seeing some water, simply said, "What prevents me from being baptized?"

I'm so proud of these people who responded to God's leading and didn't worry about wet clothes and such.  They just came.

And this is how life always is.  What prevents you from following Jesus in your life?  The truth: nothing prevents you except... well... you.
