Membership

Membership is a personal decision, but it is one you should carefully consider if you have been regularly attending FC.  As you consider the information here about membership, please prayerfully consider if God would have you join this body of believers.

What is Membership?

Membership is a commitment to the church.  When you become a member of the church, you align yourself publicly with this church: our beliefs, our direction, our vision for sharing the love of God in this community, and our way of doing ministry.  In reality, membership is much like becoming a part of a family.  The church is called the "body of Christ" in the Bible, so when you officially join the church, you become a part of the body of believers here.

Why become a Member?

You should become a member of the church so that you'll be a committed part of the church body.  When you become a member, you are no longer a "visitor" or "regular attender," but rather someone who has ownership in the church.  Membership gives you the right to vote on public church issues and decisions, and it is a requirement before you can lead or start any new ministry within the church.  When you become a member, you take the next step in your level commitment to this church.

What is required to be a Member?

Friendship Church is a Bible believing church that stands firm on our beliefs.  Because of our commitment to God and our commitment to the Bible, we have the following membership requirements:

You can become a member of Friendship in one of two ways:

1.  By becoming a Believer in Jesus Christ:

  • Make a commitment to God by repenting of your sin, asking God's forgiveness, and accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior

  • Be Baptized.

  • Sign the Friendship Church Membership Covenant

2.  By Transfer of Membership:

Friendship Church does not accept typical "transfer letters" from other churches.  If you are a member of another church, we ask that you.

  • Come on statement of your salvation (in other words, we'll ask you to describe your salvation experience to one of the pastors).

  • Evaluation of your baptism.  We accept the baptism of other churches that are of like faith and message.  This means that the church you are coming from must teach salvation by grace through faith and must teach believer's baptism that is by immersion only.  If you are coming from a church that is not of like faith and message, we require that you be re-baptized at Friendship Church.

  • Sign the Friendship Church Membership Covenant

How can I Get Started?

Just tell Curt or Ronny that you want to visit about membership.  We'll make an appointment to visit with you.
